The Turner Social Impact Society helps today’s students become tomorrow’s social impact leaders.
TSIS is a select community of Penn and Wharton undergraduates that are passionate about – and prioritize – social impact in their years at Penn, and beyond. Through the society, Wharton Social Impact Initiative supports and develops students’ commitment to social impact through fellowship, funding, mentoring, events and customized opportunities to grow.
This prestigious group is selected though an annual competitive application process, which will reopen early Fall 2018. If you are interested in learning more about TSIS, please write Yuri Seung.
Ready to join? Here's how, and why:
If you have come to Penn eager to acquire the skills, knowledge and resources to build a better world, the Turner Social Impact Society is for you.
TSIS is open to a small group of dedicated, talented and carefully selected students who demonstrate their ability and intention to “do well and do good.” This is an interdisciplinary group, dedicated to bringing undergraduates passionate about impact together from across Penn and Wharton.
Through the Society, you gain:
Community: Through a TSIS all-day retreat, monthly breakfast meetings and tons of events, build a community of like-minded peers from across Penn
Access: Access to alumni and industry contacts from across the social impact space, as well as VIP access to special guests and events
Experience: Fellows get priority invitations to Turner Social Impact Society Fellow Dinners and participation in Fellow Cohort events, as well as opportunities to participate in intensive social impact workshops and training, and hands-on experience with conferences and events
Career: Guaranteed funding of up to $4,000 for an approved social impact internship, plus additional funding available on a case by case basis for things like conferences, treks and ventures
Wharton Social Impact Initiative and alumnus Bobby Turner, W’84, spearheaded the launch of Turner Social Impact Society in 2014.
As a longtime supporter of social impact activities at Wharton, Turner is an example of using business knowledge for social good. He also helps to inform the ongoing priorities and future direction of the Wharton School as a member of the Board of Overseers.

“The support of TSIS has been a formative part of my college experience”
