Three Leaders in Business, Government, and Nonprofit to Discuss How to Solve the World’s Biggest Problems

The Turner Social Impact Executive Speaker Series is pleased to welcome Antony Bugg-Levine, Valerie Jarrett, and Dalia Wilson-Scott to the Wharton School.

On February 25th, Penn and Wharton students will have the opportunity to hear from three industry leaders on the evolving role of business, government, and nonprofits. Antony Bugg-Levine (CEO of the Nonprofit Finance Fund), Valerie Jarrett (Former Senior Advisor to President Obama), and Dalia Wilson-Scott (Senior Vice President of Community Impact at Comcast) will join Katherine Klein (Vice Dean for Wharton Social Impact Initiative and Professor of Management) to discuss cross-sector approaches in addressing societal challenges.

  • Antony Bugg-Levine is the CEO of the Nonprofit Finance Fund, one of the nation’s leading community development financial institutions (CDFIs). He previously led impact investing for the Rockefeller Foundation and served as the Country Director of TechnoServe in Nairobi, Kenya, where he designed and implemented business solutions to rural poverty.
  • Valerie Jarrett served as the senior advisor to President Barack Obama. She is the author of the memoir Finding My Voice: My Journey to the West Wing and the Path Forward. She has also worked in the Chicago mayor’s office and was the CEO of Habitat Company, a property management firm responsible for overseeing portions of Chicago’s public housing system.
  • Dalia Wilson-Scott is the Senior Vice President of Community Impact and President of Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation. Previously, she served as the President of the JPMorgan Chase Foundation. She has been named as one of the “Most Powerful Women in Cable” by Cablefax Magazine and an “Innovative Rising Star: Building Communities” by Forbes Magazine.

Since 2010, the Turner Social Impact Executive Speaker Series, funded by Bobby Turner, W’84 and Lauren Golub Turner, W’85, has brought in high-profile speakers to Penn’s campus to discuss impact investing, philanthropy, education, and other approaches to creating positive change in the world. Most recently, the program hosted Patagonia’s Director of Philosophy Vincent Stanley for a fireside chat with Bobby Turner in November 2019. This month’s Speaker Series is presented in partnership with the McNulty Leadership Program.

We look forward to welcoming these three industry leaders at the Wharton School on February 25th!
